Able Anglers provide a professional fishing respite service, not just in the Moreton Bay region but throughout South-East Queensland.

Our sessions generally operate 6 days a week, Monday through to Saturday.  Our services are designed with one main goal in mind.  “Reel Opportunities For Real People”.

We provide a fishing respite service for people living with a Disability or Mental Illness, when we say fishing respite service, we do not just go somewhere and fish, we arrange a session and aside from fishing, our participants benefit from;

  • Fishing Tuition
  • Engagement In Conversations
  • Community Access
  • Social Groups
  • Meet New Friends
  • Enjoy The Outdoors

Through our sessions directly, we have not only seen participants make some amazing friendships, we have seen some significant improvement in the mental health of our regular participants.

Our sessions include everything required to fish;

  • Fishing Rods
  • Fishing Tackle
  • Bait
  • Tuition
  • Engagement

There are some requirements of our participants to ensure the safety and suitability for all participants attending, these are;

  • Support Worker
    If a participant utilises or requires a support worker/carer to assist them, then the support worker is required to attend with the participant.  If a participant requires a support worker but their regular support worker is unavailable, Able Anglers and provide this additional service also.
  • Parents / Guardian
    If a participant is under the age of 18 year old, a parent/carer/guardian is required to be present at all times.
  • Transportation
    Able Anglers do not provide transportation as part of our regular fishing services, however, if required, please discuss this with our team and we can assist you.

This service is a service where we can not guarantee you will catch a fish, however, we can guarantee that you will enjoy the session and service provided.

NDIS Participants

Able Anglers provides our services to participants who have received a NDIS plan, with regards to Self Managed or Plan Managed, we can invoice directly to your plan, however, if you are NDIA (Agency Managed), we do have fee-for-service options available.

Our standard fishing sessions (Land Based or Tinnie Based) are billed at $45 per hour, per participant (support workers are not billed).

We do not charge (extra) for our tinnie sessions, however the Tinnie sessions depend primarily on the participant requesting the session, for safety reasons, we need to consider mobility and medical factors to ensure the safety of the participant, their support worker and our licensed boat operator.
